VISIT FROM KTH PROFESSOR HANS WESTLUND TO ARCHILAND
On May 14th, Hans Westlund, Professor of Urban and Regional Studies at KTH and Dr. Xu Miao, Researcher of HAL Laboratory at KTH visited ARCHILAND office. Ms. Tian Kun, Director of ARCHILAND, Mr. Sun Zheng, Director of ARCHILAND, and representatives of the design team warmly received them. The two sides had an in-depth dialogue on the interaction between urban and rural areas in the “post-urbanization era” and the promotion of the relationship between industrial development and urbanization, and discussed the direction of future cooperation.
Professor Hans Westlund is a leading scholar in the field of sustainable urban-rural development, with a long-standing focus on urban-rural interactions and regional resilience building in the post-urbanization era. His research interests primarily encompass urban-rural relations and post-urbanization development, social capital and regional resilience, sustainable development policies and planning, as well as international cooperation and knowledge transfer. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Environment at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden, a Fellow (former President) of the International Regional Science Association (RSAI), a member of the Expert Committee on Resilient Cities of the Chinese Society of Urban Studies.
At the meeting, both parties engaged in-depth discussions on the interactive promotion mechanism between industrial development and urban economy. They also exchanged views on topics such as creating a people-centric scale for industrial communities and optimizing the spatial allocation of innovative elements. Looking ahead, Archiland will continue to deepen its international collaboration network, focusing on exploring resilient frameworks for the flow of urban-rural resources in a post-urbanization context, and constructing urban-rural symbiotic models that balance ecological conservation and industrial upgrading. Archiland will also advance innovations in industrial spatial planning methodologies, integrating Professor Hans Westlund's theory of “social capital-driven regional innovation” with Archiland's industrial community practices to enhance regional economic resilience.
