BEIJING BLUE GREEN SPINE ACTIVATION

The Liangmahe River is located at the core of modern Beijing City. After years of rapid development, the urban center faces many challenges such as increasing traffic pressure, lack of public space, extreme climate threats etc. The 13th Five-Year Plan of Beijing and Chaoyang have put forward the goal of building livable cities. We come up with multiple livable solutions mainly focusing on issues such as traffic, public environment and climate respond. The integrated ecological strategy of blue, green and grey is the key of building livable city. From three different scales of riverbank, region and city, we aim to relocate the river, build waterfront ecological public space, establish high-efficient slow traffic system, create dynamic public space with culture characteristics, and build comprehensive ecological system to deal with the risk of rain and flood. Liangmahe River will become a pioneer on the road of building livable cities.
